Won't that defeat the purpose? I mean win awards with the ultimate goal of becoming an expat? Aren't we needed by our own country more than Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and China? Should we be using our "world-class" creativity for our country's own good?
I'm not a big fan of David Guerrero but you know why BBDO-G is still the creative hotshop that it is for the last 10 years?
'Coz David chooses to stay here rather than serve on a regional role as an expat. And for all the muck that has been thrown at him, that he's Western-thinking, he's half-Brit etc., etc., he's more Filipino than most homebred Pinoy creatives out there who, after winning just a couple of Lions, leave the country and work as an "expat" somewhere in Asia.
This kind of thinking, of winning awards to become an expat is just so pathetic.

If your goal is merely to be an expat, spare yourself the agony of trying to win awards to be one.
Go to Cambodia. There, Filipino creatives are hired as expats with all the perks, of course, even if you've won nothing.

Rumor has it that some Pinoy Creatives in Cambodia have actually even stolen from their employers and clients and still get away with it. So they can get more. So it should just be like living here.
There are two Pinoys na ex Ayala Agency who set-up a company there and are notorious for corruption. We export our "best" there to show the world how "great" we are.

In the last AdCong, DM9 spent a fortune on entry fees. Malamang ganun din sa mga international awards shows.
Ang tanong, hindi ba ganyan din ang TBWA nun? Gumastos ng gumastos sa awards hanggang isang araw narealize nila, teka, walang pumapasok na pera!
Sana lang DM9 can learn from that. They can take the cue from BBDO and JWT on how they should manage their spending on award shows.
